Route overview: Some of the best hiking is at the put in taking a day here will not be missed. From the put the River is a very fast narrow creek. It is very difficult to stop! See if you can find the broken canoe on the river right hand side in the first day. Most people continue down and paddle the Upper Keele taking out after the Natla confluance. The Upper Keele contains great hiking and would take another week. There is some good whitewater to be had.
Fishing: The river has trout and grayling. Best fishing is towards the end. Please be respectful and do not over fish! take only large sized Trout! It is becoming an increasing problem that these pristine rivers are becoming more and more overfished.
